| This logo was designed in 1978 for my son's school, Friends Seminary in Manhattan. The principal, Joyce McCray had a great feeling for what the school represented and she conveyed it to me effectively. Although the finished design was really a portrait of the original building (still in use), we felt that this image conveyed more than a likeness- a spirit of Quaker seriousness-of-purpose in combination with warmth and nurturing friendliness and a hint of old-world tradition reflecting the school's history. A number of people were under the impression that this logo originated in the 1780's when the school was founded. |
