| My logo, as you may have noticed. This determined spectre charging into the fray, weapon in hand, perfectly expresses my professional psyche. (Should I see a doctor?) The image was copied loosely from Mantegna's "Pallas Expelling the Vices from the Garden of Virtue" painted in 1500. I didn't scan it, just painted it in Photoshop, sitting with a reproduction in my lap and the mouse in my hand. She really doesn't look much like the original, although I depended heavily on Mantegna in working out the folds in the fabric (which a friend pointed out suffers from static-cling.) Needless to say, Pallas chose a sword over a pencil. The holes in her stockings, though, are authentic. |
